How much porcelain should you order?

KLINCK guide · October 2026

Order too little and you risk a second batch that doesn’t quite match. Order too much and you’ve paid for tiles you don’t need. Here’s how to get it right.

Start with your area

Measure each room or outdoor area in metres and multiply length by width. Add the areas together for a total.

Add an allowance for cuts

As a guide, allow around 10% for larger, simple areas laid in a straight grid. Small areas need more, often 12–15%, because a higher share of tiles are cut. Herringbone and diagonal patterns add around 5% more, and large formats and slabs add a little more again.

Keep a few spares

Keep a few tiles back after the job for future repairs. Shades vary slightly between batches, so spares from the same batch are worth having.

Use the calculator

Our quantity calculator works this out for you, then sends the figures straight into a project enquiry.
